Looking for a special treat for your son or daughter's teacher this Valentine's Day? Check out this "SWEET" idea from Eighteen 25. I'm so FORTUNATE to have you as a teacher. You can download and print here: Eighteen25

Valentine parties for preteens don't HAVE to be co-ed...Why not host a "Love Letters" party where the guests can write sweet little notes of appreciation to the ones they love. OR- you could use this same theme for your preschooler's play date by focusing on individual LETTERS. Celebrations at Home has the step by step on how to make this party come to life!

This last idea is just a simple way to surprise your family the morning of February 14th. Set the breakfast table with fun letters that spell love. Fill a vase with red hots or red M&M's and beautiful flowers. Serve yummy heart shaped pancakes or play off on names of cereal....like Lucky Charms and write a little note that says:
"I sure am LUCKY to have you as my Valentine".

May your HEART be filled this Valentine's Day!

Surf's Up Birthday Boy!

Hang Loose Birthday Surfer!
Beach themes for boys can be fun too- especially if you tweak the "luau" a little by kicking it up with lots of SURF BOARDS.

Summer theme birthdays can be WAY COOL- even if your birthday isn't actually in summer! Why not throw a surf's up party ANY TIME of year!

Pottery Barn Kids has the best surfing gear!

Create a place for your little surfers to dress up or down- whatever the attire. Hang a surfboard shower curtain for swimmers to change into beach party swim wear. This little nook can also make the perfect backdrop for a photo opp!

Bucket-o-flip flops- buy enough for each kiddo to wear home. Flip flops run about $1-$5 and make perfect party favors.
Wooden signs that resemble actual Surfboard Stands make great decorations. Simply grab a scrap piece of wood and spray paint it brown. Use white chalk to label different stations of the party or to display the birthday boy's name.

Water sports are a must for this outdoor birthday party. Slip-&-Slides, water balloon fights, water gun activities, or even renting water bounce house slides are a few ways of guaranteeing your guests will have a blast! Beach ball volleyball is always a hit- added sand just makes it that much more fun!

Hanging beach towels around for guests not only is convenient, it also creates a real surf shack look.

A tiki hut is a fun way to serve lemonade or frozen treats to guests. Popsicles always bring big smiles.

Perfect for the lil' surfer dude in your life! Project Nursery did this party just right!

Make your 4th of July SPARKLE!

Well summer is officially here- and believe me, we are feeling the heat in Texas!! Summer means Swimming and SPARKLERS- Happy 4th of July Yawl!

July 4th is a great time to celebrate our independence with a spectacular cookout. Start out by thinking Red, White, and Blue! Walmart is a great place to start- I love these red, white and blue tin pieces.

Can't you just imagine stacking bright red apples in these cute bins...or maybe fill them with ice and bottled sodas!!!!

Who would have thought- cupcakes, strawberries, and marshmallow kabobs!! YUMMY! Step by step instructions at http://www.cupcakeactivist.com/

Poshtot Events created a wonderful inspiration board. Mason jars make a great way to serve
ice tea, ice cold lemonade or koolaide! Scrapbook paper twirled in a cone shape is a fun way to serve chips or popcorn at your July 4th party! Watermelon and Cucumber salad is a treat all of your guests will enjoy.

Tomato and Watermelon Salad: Poshtot Events
yield: Serves 4 to 6

If the idea of tomatoes and watermelon together sounds odd to you, this dish will be a revelation. There is a saying that what grows together goes together, and in this case it is true. If you think of tomatoes as a fruit, which they are botanically, this combination makes more sense. Seasonality, however, is the key. I make this salad only in the summer, when tomatoes, watermelon, and cucumbers are at their peak of flavor. Rich, creamy Hass avocados are included to lend a nice contrast of flavor and texture. I always toss this salad together before serving, but for the photo opposite I was inspired to create a painstaking mosaic of the ingredients. If you’re so inclined, feel free, but don’t say I didn’t warn you—it takes a lot of time.

Ingredients
3 or 4 small to medium heirloom tomatoes, in assorted colors, cored and cut into 3/4-inch chunks
1 small English or regular cucumber, peeled, seeded, and cut into 3/4-inch cubes
1 cup 3/4-inch-cubed yellow or red seedless watermelon flesh
1 Hass avocado, halved, pitted, peeled, and cut into 3/4-inch cubes
1 tablespoon chopped mixed fresh herbs, in any combination: basil, tarragon, chives, and cilantro
1/4 teaspoon coriander seed
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
3 tablespoons aged balsamic vinegar
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Preparation
In a bowl, combine the tomatoes, cucumber, watermelon, avocado, and herbs. In a spice grinder, grind the coriander seeds to a fine powder. Add the ground coriander to the tomato mixture and toss gently.
In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and salt and pepper to taste. Pour over the tomato mixture and toss to coat evenly. Taste and adjust the seasoning before serving.

Fridge, Closets, Dishwashers OH MY!

Have you ever been taught the proper way to... stock your fridge, load your dishwasher, or even fold sheets? ...Well, besides the Angie-Pangie way...fold once, fold twice, rollem up rollem up, throw em in the closet...
Here is a post that will walk you threw the Martha Stewart way of keeping a "happy home": ENJOY!
First: How to Properly Load the Dishwasher Video:

from:http://www.marthastewart.com/article/load-a-dishwasher
Most of us give little thought to our dishwashers -- we just load the dishes, add the detergent, and turn it on. But a bit of planning goes a long way toward keeping your dishes and utensils in their best shape and getting them as clean as possible.

Second: How to Properly Fold a fitted sheet- URGH ;)

http://www.marthastewart.com/article/fold-a-fitted-sheet

This technique yields a fitted sheet that will lie flat in the linen closet. (Instructions are for a right-handed person; reverse them if you're left-handed.)

With the sheet inside out, place one hand in each of two adjacent corners.

Bring your right hand to your left, and fold the corner on your right hand over the one in your left, so the corner on top is right side out. Next, reach down and pick up the corner that is adjacent to the one that was in your right hand (it will be hanging in front), and fold it over the other two corners; this third corner will be inside out.

Bring the last corner up, and fold it over the others so it is right-side out.

Lay the sheet on a flat surface, and shape as shown. Fold two edges in, so all the elastic is hidden.

Fold the strip of fabric into a rectangle. Continue folding until the rectangle is the size you want.

And Lastly: Organizing your Fridge:

http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/life/five-tips-to-organize-your-refrigerator-203320/

5 Fridge Organization Tips

1. On Humidity: Set the humidity higher for vegetables than for fruits. If you can't adjust the settings, you can leave the drawer slightly open for celery, lettuce and other moisture-craving items.

2. On Freezing: Write down the use-by date on items destined for the freezer. Keep a pen on or near the fridge.

3. On Containers: Use clear containers whenever possible. The result: no more mystery meals hiding in the corner. Keep lids on everything or else the odors will overwhelm all other foods inside.

4. On Filling It Up: Don't. The fridge won't cool as well as it should if it's packed with items. Leave at least one-inch spaces between items. Apparently, it's ok to jam the freezer though.

5. On Drinks: Place bottles and jugs in the side doors. They can handle the weight. Transfer 1/2 bottles of wine into smaller containers to save room and reduce oxidization.

Now off to do some laundry!

Foldem Up!
